Who we are

EcoDrive SA and EcoLight Distributors SA were founded in 2001, with the sole purpose of looking at ways to reduce energy. In the early days we were trading under the name “PowerBoss SA” and marketed a motor controller under the same name, this has now changed and we have developed a South African version of the product designed to suit the harsh needs of the South African mining environment.
In our quest for other energy efficient products we discovered a niche market in the retrofit market of existing light fittings without the need for rewiring or replacing perfectly usable fittings. The benefits to the EcoLight retrofit as opposed to the replacement of fittings speaks for itself

Since 2001 we have fitted over 200 Ecodrive motor controllers to large equipment such as crushers and conveyers
During the last 3 years we have demonstrated the products to numerous companies, showing the benefits and ease of fitment.
We have done extensive tests to show the quality and lifespan of the products as well as how the units fit in with South African and international standards.
Some of our test lighting sites are now running in excess of 4 years and numerous orders have resulted from such tests.
With our overseas back up we are able to tailor make product for difficult and unique applications.
We continue to re-invent the product and ourselves in order to keep up with new developments and designs
